Kathmandu, June 24

The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority has taken initiatives to prepare detailed project reports for the development of four smart cities in Kathmandu Valley within next one year.

The Authority says four companies have already been selected for the reports. The first DPR is expected as early as after nine months.

KVDA Chief Bhai Kaji Tiwari says a foreign company has been selected for the DPR of Ishan, the city which will be established on the northeastern side covering Mulpani and Gothatar of Kathmandu and some adjacent areas of Bhaktapur districts.

Other three companies are Nepali. They will be responsible for developing DPRs for three other cities to be developed on northern, southeastern and southwestern sides.

The government says these smart cities will set an example for well-managed urbanisation.
