Constituency delineation: PM not happy, willing to extend deadline

Kathmandu, August 30

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is not happy with the report prepared by Constituency Delineation Commission and willing to extend the Commission’s deadline, says a source close to the PM.

While the deadline is expiring today, the Prime Minister is reluctant to receive the report as he says the report has not been prepared as per his wish.

The Commission members, on the other hand, finalised the delineation as per their mandate and put their signatures on the report last night.

The source says PM Deuba is not satisfied with the carving of constituencies in Province 7, which also includes his home district Dadeldhura. He had already put pressure on the Commission to change the report once.

The Commission members paid attention to the PM’s suggestions and made some changes and that could not satisfy the PM, the source says.

It has been learned that the PM may call the Cabinet meeting today to decide the extension.
