Address Lounge Review: Scenic view meets good food

After settling down with a drink and looking at the Kathmandu valley from the sixteenth floor of one of the city’s tallest buildings, who would want to leave? That’s Address Lounge in Dillbazar for you.

As the elevator stops on the fourteenth floor, you enter a cozy lounge which has a royal look. The furniture has been carefully selected by the owners and has been imported from Europe and China. The owner Aman Poddar decided to open the rooftop lounge as the city did not have such a place.

The fourteenth floor has two lounges. One of the lounges is for family events or business meetings while the other is for private parties.

The lounge on the fourteenth floor is ideal for family events.

The fifteenth floor is where the main seating area is located. The rugged look of the place perfectly complements the staggering view. The tables and chairs are quite different, and to my surprise, also had a heating facility. Address Lounge also has a rooftop from where you can observe the entire northern side of Kathmandu.

If you think the view is the only thing great about the place, wait till you try the food. The first meal I went for was the peri peri chooza. The chicken dish was savoury and delicious and went perfectly with the cocktail. The marinated chicken was full of flavour and was tender, smoky, juicy and perfectly spiced. The taste of the spices used makes the dish similar to tandoori chicken, but it is anything but.

The dish does have a kick to it and is not as spicy as people may think. Served on a sizzling hot dish, this food item is a must try when you visit Address.

With the chicken, I also tried their four-season French fries. If you think they serve their customers the average French fries, well you’re wrong. First, these fries come in four small buckets and all four taste different than the other. The wasabi flavoured fries a bit spicy, savoury, sweet and salty. The peri peri was garlicky, spicy, lemony and tangy. Spanish tomato fries had a tangy and bold taste with a hint of spice and lots of tomato and clove flavour. Overall an interesting dish which is even ideal for even kids.

Along with the food, I also tried two of their special cocktails ‘Between the Lakes’ and ‘Smoky Blue’. The glass the cocktails was unique. The blend of rum with their special ingredients was quite a treat. Not so strong, the cocktail was quite nice and smooth and had a hint of caramel-like flavour which gave the drink a fruity taste. The drink itself is quite good, I’d recommend it just for the glass it is served in.

Between the Lakes

The next cocktail I went for was the smoky blue. This whiskey-based cocktail was quite different from the earlier one and a bit on the stronger side. The blend of whiskey and blue curacao gave it a different and unique taste. Most people might not like whiskey being used in a cocktail but rest assured this cocktail has lots of adult flavours that will knock your socks off and leave you wanting another.

The menu is a bit expensive, but the view pretty much makes up for it.

They have three different seating areas which can accommodate up to 300 people easily. Address Lounge also hosts live music on the weekends.

Address Lounge is located in the green building next to Silver City Apartments.

The lounge is truly one of a kind as it takes you to a different world. One moment you’re driving your way through the busy streets of Kathmandu, and the next you’re watching the city pass by from the 15th floor.
