Pyuthan, May 13
A passenger bus veered off the road killing at least five people and injuring 25 others near Pakuri Khola of Bada Danda in Pyuthan on Sunday morning.
The bus (Ba 5 Kha 1876) heading towards Khalanga of Pyuthan district from Mahendranagar of Kanchanpur met with the accident killing two men and three women.
According to the Pyuthan District Police Office, the police have been able to identify the body of driver Bir Bahadur Tharu so far. Other victims are yet to be identified.
The injured have been undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Bijuwar. Of them, nine have been referred to various hospitals including Butwal Hospital.
Meanwhile, a joint team of Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force, with the help of locals, have been carrying out the rescue operation at the incident site.
