Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal’s Lal Babu Raut has been appointed Chief Minister of Province 2.
The province’s governor Ratneshwor Lal Kayastha appointed Raut to the post on Wednesday, his office said. Raut laid claim to the leadership of the provincial government after receiving support from the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal.
The provincial assembly in the state has 107 members. With the support of 29 Forum lawmakers and 25 RJP MLAs, Raut has a majority in the legislature.
Raut is expected to be sworn in on Wednesday. Top leaders of Forum-Nepal and the RJP are expected to take part in the swearing-in ceremony.
