The federal government has appointed the new governor in the Bagmati province also.

A cabinet meeting held on Thursday appointed Yadav Sharma as the new chief of the province. Sharma was a former personal secretary of former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, who has recently registered a new party after leaving the CPN-UML.

He is replacing incumbent Bishnu Prasad Prasain, a local leader of the KP Sharma Oli-led CPN-UML from his own district of Jhapa.

Since the formation of the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government last month, the government has already changed governors in four of three provinces. Previously, Amik Sherchan, Prithvi Man Singh Gurung, and Hari Shankar Mishra have been appointed governors in Lumbini, Gandaki and Province 2 respectively.
