‘Would-be PM’ Oli says he will make Nepal a model of development

Kathmandu, December 10

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, who is poised to be elected the Prime Minister as his party is leading the House of Representatives vote count, says his party will make Nepal a model of development and prosperity.

Congratulating his constituency’s newly elected lawmaker and UML leader Mahesh Basnet at his own residence in Balkot of Bhaktapur today, Oli said the results of parliamentary and provincial elections were satisfactory.

“The results are as good as we had expected. Now, this should should be made a model of development and prosperity,” Oli said, adding two major communist parties–the UML and the Maoist Centre as they are planning a merger within a next few months–would unify the country thereby maintaining social harmony.

He said the parties would not be deviated from their responsibilities in the excitement of overwhelming victory.
