WordCamp Kathmandu 2026, Nepal’s flagship conference for the WordPress community, will be held on September 18–19 at Alice Receptions in Gairidhara, bringing together more than 500 participants from Nepal and abroad.
Organized by WordPress Kathmandu, the two-day event will feature over 30 speakers and delegates from countries including the United States, India, Bangladesh and several European nations. The conference will be held under the theme, “Where Ancient Culture Meets Open Source,” highlighting the connection between Kathmandu Valley’s cultural heritage and the collaborative nature of open-source software.
The opening day, designated as Contributor Day, will focus on collaborative efforts to improve the WordPress platform by allowing participants to contribute to its development, security and accessibility. The second day will feature keynote sessions and technical presentations on emerging topics such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing.
Organisers said the event aims to strengthen Nepal’s growing technology sector by providing developers, entrepreneurs and digital agencies with opportunities to exchange knowledge and connect with international experts. With WordPress powering around 43 per cent of websites worldwide, the conference is expected to help local professionals expand their global reach.
The event also continues the Ujwal Thapa Memorial Scholarship, which supports the participation of students from marginalised communities in the technology sector. Organisers said the initiative is intended to promote digital inclusion while helping build skilled human resources for Nepal’s expanding IT industry.
WordCamp Kathmandu follows similar regional events previously held in Butwal, Pokhara and Bharatpur, which organisers say contributed to expanding Nepal’s WordPress community beyond the capital.
