Kathmandu, March 12

The CPN-UML chairman KP Sharma Oli has removed all party officials except himself and General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel from their positions without consulting the faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal.

Apparently, Oli’s move is aimed at angering the rival faction that has been forced to return to the old party after a Supreme Court verdict that rejected the 2018 unification of the UML with the Maoist Centre earlier this week.

Likewise, without consulting the Nepal-Khanal faction, he appointed Pradeep Gyawali as the spokesperson.

He appointed Ram Bahadur Thapa, who came to the UML following a virtual split in the then Nepal Communist Party, as the Bagmati Province In-Charge by removing the other faction’s Ashta Laxmi Shakya.
