A team of security personnel under Divash Lohani, SP at Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau, on Friday found weapons missing from the Nepal Army’s Dipayal-based Far-Western Divisional Headquarters close to a corner of the HQ walls. A source said the team has also arrested three people on the charge of stealing the weapons, including an SMG and its bullets. It’s unclear whether the arrestees are army personnel or civilians.

Tara Bahadur Karki, NA spokesperson, said the team retrieved bullets and magazine along with the SMG.

Karki told Onlinekhabar: The weapon, bullets and magazine were recovered close to the wall.  I don’t know the details of the arrestees.

For sometime after the weapons went missing, NA had conducted an internal investigation to locate them. Later, a team under SP Lohani also reached Dipayal to search for the arms.

It appears someone came and left the weapons by the side of the wall early Friday morning
