Kathmandu, November 18
Donald Lu, the United States assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian affairs, is in Kathmandu since Wednesday on an official trip.
Lu is scheduled to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday, informs the PM’s secretariat.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Lu will pay a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Minister Narayan Khadka on Friday.
During the trip, he will also monitor US-assisted development projects in Nepal and take stock of progress. The US Embassy in Kathmandu says he will also visit heritage sites.
Similarly, Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Kelly Keiderling will arrive in Kathmandu on Thursday. She will be meeting Nepali officials and emerging civil society leaders upon her arrival.
