Kathmandu, October 8
The CPN-UML has decided to hold a national gathering in Kathmandu in November, the party’s secretary Mahesh Basnet said.
The decision was taken at the party’s Standing Committee meeting on Thursday after completing gatherings at the lower levels of the party.
“We will hold the national gathering around mid-November,” Basnet said after the Standing Committee meeting.
According to Basnet, provincial and district office-bearers, rural and municipal chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, as well as elected representatives from the federal, provincial and local levels, will participate in the gathering.
The party has also decided to hold ward-level conventions on December 12 and local-level conventions on December 19. Provincial-level gatherings will be held after the local and ward conventions, Basnet said.
The Standing Committee meeting will continue at 1pm on Friday.
Former president Bidya Devi Bhandari also attended Thursday’s meeting and took the oath as a senior leader of the party.
