Pokhara Municipality has suspended two paragliding companies that failed to renew their licences.

Golden Heaven Paragliding and Advance Paragliding have been suspended by the municipality after they failed to register their companies with the municipality office within a deadline set by the civic office.

Both companies were time and again asked by the municipality to register, however, both didn’t bother to do so, say local officials.

“We gave these companies plenty of time to register but they didn’t want to register. As a penalty, we have suspended both companies from staging flights,” added municipality revenue officer Romnath Upadhaya.

A total of 35 paragliding companies have registered and renewed their licenses as of March 18. The companies were given a deadline of March 6 to register but after most companies didn’t register, the municipality was forced to extend the deadline. Upadhyaya added that the municipality was coordinating with ward number 18 to ensure that the suspended paragliding companies did not operate.
