Kathmandu, November 3
Two different committees have been formed for investigations into a recorded phone conversation between DSP Hem Bahadur Shahi, who heads the Kohalpur Area Police Office in Nepalgunj, and a local cadre of the Nepali Congress party.
Earlier last week, the Congress cadres had made public the audio in which Shahi is heard asking Keshar Khadka, the district treasurer of Congress youth wing Nepal Tarun Dal, to give him a goat during the Dashain festival last month.
Nepal Police headquarters and the Province 5 Police Office have formed different committees to look into the case. SSP Umesh Joshi heads the headquarters’ committee whereas SSP Nar Bahadur KC heads the provincial committee.
Earlier, Shahi’s personnel arrested some Congress cadres in the district on the charge of possessing a pistol. They had made public the audio after the arrest only.
