Two killed in Sindhupalchok flood; 14 missing

Kathmandu, July 9

Two persons have been killed after being swept away by a flood in Jambu Bajaar of Bahrabise in Sindhupalchok on Thursday morning. Other 14 are missing.

The victims have been identified as Nikesh Basnet, 31, and his three-year-old daughter.

DIG Basanta Lama, the chief of the Province 3 Police Office, says preparations are underway to carry out the postmortem of the bodies.

Earlier, the security personnel had rescued three persons alive from the flood. They are also injured and the authorities are preparing to airlift them.

Meanwhile,  the flood also destroyed a section of Araniko Highway. Transportation has halted at many points of the highway.


Mid Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project damaged

Meanwhile, the flood also damaged various structures of the under-construction Mid Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project, according to the project CEO Mani Kumar Kaphle. The flood also swept away one Chinese technician associated with the project.

The flood swept various equipment of the project.
