Kathmandu, April 9

Two brothers were murdered in a stabbing incident within the premises of the Krishna Temple in Patan, Lalitpur. The victims have been identified as 33-year-old Sumit Nembang and his 25-year-old brother, Sirjan Nembang.

The attack was carried out by Sanjeev Nepali. After being critically injured in the stabbing, the brothers were rushed to B&B Hospital, where they passed away during treatment, according to SSP Hobindra Bogati, chief of the Lalitpur Police. Police have already arrested two individuals, including the primary suspect, while they were attempting to flee.

The incident

On Wednesday evening, the Nembang brothers reportedly dialled a number that connected to Sanjeev’s mobile phone. The parties were strangers to each other. After receiving the call from an unknown number, a brief conversation took place, which quickly escalated into a verbal dispute. As the argument intensified over the phone, Sanjeev challenged the brothers to meet him in Patan.

The brothers, who resided in Imadol, then travelled to Patan. Upon their arrival, Sanjeev, who works in a meat shop, attacked them with a sharp weapon used for cutting meat.
