A couple, riding on a bicycle, died after being hit by a truck, in Hanumannagar, Kankalini municipality-1 of the Saptari district on Tuesday morning.
The victims have been identified as Satya Narayan Mandal, 50, and his wife, Sunita Devi, 45, permanent residents of Bharadaha Bhaluwa of the district. They were hit by the truck (Na 6 Kha 3861) this morning along the East-West Highway.
“It seems the truck was at a high speed and it hit the cycle that was on the other side of the road,” DSP Naresh Singh, the chief of the Kanchanpur Area Police Office of the district, says.
The victims’ bodies are at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Memorial Hospital, Rajbiraj, for postmortem.
Further investigation is underway.
