Tremor rattles Kathmandu Valley, magnitude unknown

Kathmandu, February 24

The Kathmandu Valley experienced a minor jolt at around 3.08 pm on Wednesday.

It’s unclear whether it was an aftershock of the mega quakes that hit the country on April 25 and May 12, 2015, killing around 9,000 people, leaving thousands shelterless and causing losses worth trillions.

The Wednesday afternoon jolt seems to have caught the National Seismological Centre unawares. The centre said is yet ot know about the quake’s magnitude.

Nepal lies in a seismic faultline, with jolts of negligible magnitude occurring pretty regularly.
