One person has been arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for smuggling nearly 500 grams of gold.

The person had made a false pocket in his undergarments to smuggle the gold into Nepal, informed Nepal Police.

Customs chief of Tribhuvan International Airport, Mahesh Bhattarai, says the man who smuggled the gold is from Dhanusha and came to Nepal on a Qatar Airways flight.

Bhattarai says his body and luggage was checked after suspicions. He says that the person had four gold bricks and a chain.

Bhattarai says police have arrested him and are investigating if he is a part of a larger racket.
