Police on Sunday arrested three former Maoist PLA combatants with 68 grammes of brown sugar from Machhapokhari, Kathmandu.

They identified the arrestees as Jagat Pun (28) of Chunwang, Rukum district, Akta Bahadur Gharti Magar of Kotgaun, Rolpa district, and Pravesh DC of Gairigaun, Rolpa.

Of the three, Pun had opted for voluntary retirement during the army integration process by accepting a package of five lakh rupees, a police investigation has revealed. The other two were also former Maoist fighters, but they had left the Maoist party well before the integration process began.

Police nabbed the three after they tried to dodge questions and flee instead. During body searches, police found the three had concealed the drug with an intent to sell it.
