Kailali, March 12
Police on Sunday arrested a person with around 4 kg of opium from Lamki municipality of Kailali district.
A team from the Regional Investigation Bureau arrested Birda Karki (37) of Rugin-4, Bajura district, with the narcotic substance, DIG (Far-Western Region) Romendra Singh Deuja informed. Acting on a tip-off that Karki was trying to smuggle the substance into India, a bureau team arrested him with the substance, Deuja said. According to police, opium, a raw material for white heroin, fetches up to Rs 2 lakh/kg in the market.
Deuja said they are preparing to hand over Karki to the Kailali district police office for legal action.
