Three persons died when a landslide buried five houses in Nagma Bajaar, Tilagupha municipality-1 of Kalikot, in Karnali, on Sunday.
Karnali Provincial Police Office says the victims have been identified as Prayak Shahi (40), his daughter Hima, and another five-year-old by Nirajan Shahi from Shubhakalika rural municipality of the district.
DSP Lok Nath Timsina says two persons, Arjun Hamal (11) from Tilagupha-3 of the district and Panna Shahi (35) from Hima rural municipality of neighbouring Jumla have been rescued alive. They are undergoing treatment at Karnali Health Science Academy in Jumla.
It is not yet clear if anyone was missing after the landslide occurred at around 8 this morning. However, DSP Timsina says around 15 people might have been buried under the landslide. Therefore, police personnel assisted by locals have launched a search and rescue operation.
