These are the places from where you can get new banknotes for this Dashain

Kathmandu, October 7

Like in past years, Nepal’s central bank is selling new banknotes to members of the general public for their use during the greatest festival, Dashain.

Nepal Rastra Bank says the distribution has begun today and will last till October 15.

NRB spokesperson Narayan Paudel says a person can get new banknotes upto Rs 27,000. At maximum, one person can get 200 notes of Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 20 and Rs 50, and 100 notes of Rs 100.

These are the places where one can get new banknotes from:

  • Central and regional offices of Nepal Rastra Bank
  • Branches of Rastriya Banijya Bank and Agriculture Development Bank Limited in Kathmandu Valley
  • Branches of Nepal Bank Limited at following places: New Road, Kirtipur, Maharajgunj, Jorpati, Patan, Lazimpat and Bhaktapur
  • Selected branches of Rastriya Banijya Bank outside Kathmandu Valley

Meanwhile, the central bank has urged members of the public not to scribble on the notes or make them dirty. Those doing so are liable of punishment as per existing laws, according to the bank.
