Kathmandu, September 4
Nepal Police says it registered the highest number of criminal cases in the last fiscal year 2018/19 from Kathmandu district.
Kathmandu is followed by Morang district, where the Province 1 capital Biratnagar lies. However, the number of cases from Morang is less than one-fourth of the number of cases in Kathmandu.
The Crime Investigation Department of Nepal Police Headquarters says it registered 8,559 criminal cases from Kathmandu district in the period. Likewise, 1,888 cases were registered from Morang.
After Kathmandu and Morang, the list of the districts with the highest number of criminal records includes the following:
- Rupandehi: 1,835
- Sunsari: 1,763
- Jhapa: 1,433
- Kaski: 1,277
- Kailali: 1,235
- Chitwan: 1,178
- Dhanusha: 1,187
- Banke: 1,158
