Tear gas fired at Rastriya Swatantra Party protesters in Pokhara (Photos)

Police fired tear gas at Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) activists in Pokhara as they protested the arrest of their leader. The incident occurred as RSP supporters attempted to breach the restricted area from Ratna Chowk to Wai Chowk.

RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, also a former Home Minister, was arrested on October 18 in connection with a fraud case involving Surya Darshan Cooperative in Pokhara. Since his detention, RSP leaders and supporters have held protests, alleging political bias in his arrest.

Today, as Lamichhane was set to appear in court for the third time for an extension of his remand, RSP supporters gathered outside the court. The police deployed four rounds of tear gas after the crowd tried to break through the restricted zone.
