Kathmandu, September 17
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle left for India on Thursday morning for a three-day visit.
During the first day of his visit, Wagle is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart Nirmala Sitharaman at 5pm on Thursday.
On Friday, the second day of his visit, Wagle will participate in a high-level diplomatic dialogue hosted by former Indian foreign secretary Shyam Saran at 9am.
He is scheduled to meet Indian Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar at 5pm the same day. Wagle will also attend a meeting hosted by Javed Ashraf, president of the Trade Promotion Organisation of India, at 7:30pm.
On the final day of his visit, Wagle will be the keynote speaker at a conference with prominent Indian industrialists organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry at 9:30am on Saturday.
He will then participate in an academic discussion on development economics organised by the Delhi School of Economics at 11:30am before returning to Nepal at 4pm.
Wagle is accompanied by Amrit Lamsal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance; Gehendra Rajbhandari, joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr Surendra Thapa, deputy chief of mission at the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi; and Economics Minister Taranath Adhikari, among others.
According to Wagle’s secretariat, the visit aims to strengthen cooperation between Nepal and India on various economic, political and diplomatic issues, including post-disaster reconstruction.
