Supreme Court in crisis: Deuba says the court itself should find a solution

Kathmandu, November 27

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba says the Supreme Court itself needs to seek a solution to the recently surfaced crisis at the top judicial body in the country, over Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana’s leadership.

Of late, the stakeholders have demanded that Chief Justice Rana resign from his position as he has been accused of partnering with the executive on various occasions during the premiership of KP Sharma Oli and Sher Bahadur Deuba. But, Rana is adamant against the demand.

Whereas stakeholders have also raised their concern over the silence of major political parties and political leaders over the issue, Deuba on Wednesday said the court should seek a solution because the problem originated there.

Speaking in a programme organised by the youth wing of his Nepali Congress party this morning, Deuba nonetheless said the ruling party alliance will discuss the issue and come up with a conclusion.
