Kathmandu, May 18

The Supreme Court of Nepal has begun hearing cases online during the Covid-19 pandemic and resultant lockdown in the Kathmandu valley.

The court’s information officer Devendra Dhakal says a single bench of Justice Anil Kumar Sinha conducted the hearing of six habeas corpus petitions online on Tuesday.

He informs the lawyers have been allowed to plead for their clients from their own firms or from the communications room of the court itself.

The online hearing has begun in one bench for now, but it will be extended following consultations with stakeholders, according to him.

The Kavre District Court has also begun online hearing recently.
