Kathmandu, June 9
The Special Court on Friday extended the remand of suspended chief of Inland Revenue Department, Chudamani Sharma, by six days.
Sharma was arrested last Friday by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on corruption charges.
Earlier, the Court had allowed the anti-corruption body to keep him in detention for seven days.
But, a division bench of Justice duo Mohan Raman Bhattarai and Narendra Siwakoti extended the time today observing that the request for remand was appropriate for further investigation considering nature, seriousness and complexity of the case, the Court’s Registrar Bhim Kumar Shrestha informed.
The Commission had sought a remand of one month.
Meanwhile, Sharma said the Commission could not investigate into his activities while being a member of the Tax Settlement Commission as the body was already dissolved.
