Kathmandu, June 28

The Legislature-Parliament meeting scheduled for 3.30 pm on Tuesday will take place at 5 pm, Sudarshan Kuinkel, assistant spokesperson at the Parliament Secretariat, said. He said this was due to ‘special circumstances’.

The main opposition Nepali Congress has been preventing Parliament meetings from taking place for four consecutive days, demanding lumpsum payment of Rs 3 lakh to each earthquake-affected family. On Monday, four major political parties, including the NC, had formed a taskforce in a bid to end the standoff. Ruling and opposition parties are trying to figure a way out.
