Southeast Asian health ministers to discuss regional challenges in New Delhi

Health ministers of 11 Southeast Asian counties including Nepal are holding a meeting in New Delhi from Monday to discuss regional health challenges including impacts of climate change, high burden of tuberculosis and strengthening capacity for emergency risk management.

The health ministers of member countries of the World Health Organization Southeast Asia region are gathering for the 72nd Regional Committee Session of WHO Southeast Asia from Monday to Friday, according to the WHO.

Elimination of measles, cervical cancer and other noncommunicable diseases, and strengthening health services and workforce for universal health coverage are other key issues of the meeting, according to the UN health agency.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav will lead the Nepali delegation.
