Six foreigners joining ‘Enough Is Enough’ protest to face action

Protesters demand government improve coronavirus test services and quarantine facilities, in Kathmandu, on Saturday, June 13, 2020.

Kathmandu, June 14

The government is preparing to take action against six foreign nationals who were arrested during a mass protest organised by a Facebook group, Covid-19 Nepal: Enough is Enough, in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Police had arrested seven foreigners from the Maitighar protest on Saturday, but one was released later after finding out that the person had a legitimate reason to go there, informs SSP Shyam Lal Gyawali, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu. “Six others will face action as per the Immigration Act,” Gyawali adds.

The police have already handed over them to the Department of Immigration for further investigation and action.

Following the arrest, the law-enforcing body has been claiming that some foreign forces are behind the nationwide protests launched recently, which the protesters have been denying.
