Krishna Bahadur Giri aka Siddhababa, who was facing a rape charge at the Sunsari District Court, has been acquitted.
A single bench of Judge Arjun Prasad Koirala acquitted the religious leader concluding the hearing of a one-year-old case.
Earlier, the District Government Attorney Office had failed an application at the court, requesting the hearing scheduled for today be postponed. The office had cited that it had sent a file related to the case to the Office of the Attorney General, and it was yet to arrive back.
The court, however, did not heed the request.
The controversial religious leader was in judicial custody until the verdict.
