Saptari tanker hit kills sexagenarian

A 65-year-old woman has died when a tanker hit a sexagenarian in Kathauna, Shambhuanath municipality-6 of the Saptari district in southeastern Nepal, on Saturday night.

The victim has been identified as Maladevi Giri (65), a resident of Kobatal rural municipality-3 of the Bara district in southern Nepal. She was hit by a tanker (Na 4 Kha 2441) heading westward on the East-West Highway.

Seriously injured in the accident, Giri was rushed to the Rayapur-based Unique Hospital, but the doctors declared her dead upon arrival, informs DSP Madhav Prasad Kaphle, the District Police Office spokesperson.

Giri was crossing the road when she was hit by the tanker.

Police have arrested the tanker driver for further investigation.
