Sajha Yatayat finally gets permit to ply Bhaktapur road

Kathmandu, May 21

The Sajha Yatayat Cooperative has finally got a permit from the government to operate its service along Kathmandu-Bhaktapur road.

Though the cooperative had demanded the permit up to Kamal Binayak, the downtown of Bhaktapur, via Sanothimi, the Department of Transport Management decided to allow the popular company to go up to Surya Binayak along the Araniko Highway only.

Now, as many as 20 buses will be operated along the route that begins from Sitapaila of Kathmandu upto Surya Binayak via Kalanki, Ravi Bhawan, Soaltee Mode, Kalimati, Teku, Tripureshwor, Sahid Gate, Singhadarbar, Maitighar, Naya Baneshwor and Koteshwor, the DoTM spokesperson Tokaraj Pandey informs.

Local transport entrepreneurs of Bhaktapur district had protested application of the Sajha for the operation, citing it would hamper their business.

Meanwhile, the local transports are also planning to bring in new bigger buses to compete with the Sajha, according to Pandey.
