Butwal, March 19

Traders in Rupandehi district have demanded that all the banks which have issued loans for them waive applicable interests for the next six months citing their businesses were hit hard by the novel coronavirus infection fears.

An association of industrialists and businesspersons in Rupandehi district on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Siddharthanagar branch of Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank with regulatory roles, and demanded that the bank introduce various packages to give them relief in a crisis. They claimed that commercial banks in other countries also introduced such packages.

Responding to them, the NRB branch director Rajendra Bhattarai said he would forward the demands to the central office of the bank. He assured that genuine issues would be addressed as they were of the public concern.
