Three persons including a 35-day infant died in a hit and run in the Rupandehi district of Lumbini on Monday.
A car, whose registration number is yet to be identified, heading towards Parasi of the neighbouring Nawalparasi district from Bhairahawa, hit five people on foot, according to police.
The victims have been identified as Sima Kurmi (14), Pramila Kurmi (28), and the 35-day infant whose name has not been revealed yet, residents of Panani, Omsatiya rural municipality-4 of the district.
The infant’s mother, Bandana Kurmi (24), and Manju Kurmi (26) have sustained injuries. They are undergoing treatment at Universal Medical College in Bhairahawa, informs DSP Shyamu Aryal, the District Police Office spokesperson.
Police have launched a mission to nab the car driver involved in the hit and run.
