Rasuwa, October 12
Farmers in Amachhodingmo Rural Municipality of Rasuwa district are struggling to market their agricultural produce due to road disruptions caused by the August 26 disaster.
Transportation services have been disrupted since the Bhotekoshi flood damaged several bridges and roads, cutting off villages and restricting access to markets.
Cabbages and potatoes produced by farmers in wards 1 and 5 are wilting in the fields due to the lack of transportation and market access.
In response, local youths and elected representatives have begun initiatives to construct makeshift bridges to help farmers transport their produce and protect their livelihoods.
Residents are actively working to build a wooden bridge at Syaphrubensi to restore connectivity. They are volunteering their time and effort to resume transportation and facilitate the movement of people and goods.
Ram Bahadur Tamang, chairperson of ward 5 of Amachhodingmo Rural Municipality, Dharma Tamang, chairperson of ward 4, and ward secretary Chhewang are coordinating efforts to bring together intellectuals, social activists and youths to construct temporary bridges.
The initiative aims to restore mobility for residents and enable farmers to transport their agricultural produce to markets.
