Kathmandu, January 20

A sitting minister of the federal government has warned that her party could resort to violence to suppress CK Raut’s Janamat Party.

As protesting cadres of Raut’s party tried to obstructed Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Renu Yadav from an event hosted by her Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal in the Rautahat district headquarters Gaur, Yadav on Wednesday said her party could repeat the rice mill incident.

By the rice mill incident, she referred to a violent clash between cadres of the then Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum, which Yadav was affiliated to, and the Maoist party. Yadav’s party had killed 28 Maoist cadres on March 21, 2007.

“The rice mill is still there. Don’t try to show your head. People here know how to break your sticks.”

She further said, “If you try to challenge the storm, you will end in a situation similar to the rice mill. Don’t forget history, Doctor (Raut).”
