Realme Narzo 50 is yet another release from Realme in the Narzo series in Nepal. Two other models in the series, Narzo 50A and Narzo 50i, were also previously released here. The latest release, Realme Narzo 50 is the premium among the three.
Branded as “mighty performance-boosted” Realme Narzo 50 is focused especially on gaming. The features offered by this phone are really commendable, especially with the price range it is being sold at. The phone offers a gaming processor on board with a large and quick responding display. The battery backup on the phone is also decent and supports faster charging. A larger resolution camera is also offered on the phone.

Design and display
Realme Narzo 50 has a simple design and does not take your attention at the first glance as Realme C35 does.
There is a glass front with a plastic back and a plastic frame. The phone features a Kevlar speed texture design on the back which is said to be inspired by racing cars. The matte design on the back does provide a different look to the phone, but it does not completely prevent fingerprint smudges. The back also houses a rectangular camera module.
On the left side of the phone, there are volume buttons and a card slot while on the other side is the power button, which also works as a fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor is quick and unlocks the phone without any issues. At the bottom lies a speaker, headphone jack and charging port.
Realme Narzo 50 feels comfortable on the hands as it weighs 194 grams and is 8.5mm thick. Single-hand use should also not be any problem. The phone is available in two colour variants: speed black and speed blue. We have the latter one.
On the front is a huge 6.60-inch of IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1,080*2,400 pixels. The 90.8% screen-to-body ratio gives a bigger viewing space for the user. The 120Hz adaptive refresh rate makes the use of the phone extremely smooth. Similarly, the phone also has a 180Hz touch sampling rate, which is pretty good for a phone of this category.
Cameras
Realme Narzo 50 features a rectangular camera module on the back that houses a triple camera setup along with an LED flashlight which replicates the camera sensors. The 50MP primary lens is housed together with a couple of 2MP macro and B&W sensors. On the front is a single 16MP selfie shooter.
The photography features on the phone include 50MP mode, ultra steady video, night mode, panoramic view, expert, time-lapse, portrait mode, HDR, ultra macro, AI scene recognition, AI beauty, filter, chroma boost and slow motion.
The photos clicked during the daytime are pretty decent. Nothing special can be expected from the cameras, but they do the job. The cameras also do a good job of clicking pictures under sufficient lighting.
The phone has a night mode for shooting in low lights or during nighttime. The camera manages to capture colours in the night mode but loses its sharpness. The selfies also look good on this phone.
For the video, the cameras on Realme Narzo 50 are limited to capturing 1080p resolution only. The phone features ultra-steady video mode which does a decent job stabilising the videos.
Performance and storage
Realme Narzo 50 runs on Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. The phone should get at least two years of Android updates. Endorsed as a gaming phone the Realme Narzo 50 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G96 chipset paired with either 4GB or 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
Furthermore, this phone also features Realme’s dynamic RAM expansion technology, which extends the available RAM capacity up to 11GB by using a portion of the internal storage. This feature is said to enable better multitasking and enhance overall performance. Similarly, the storage of the phone can also be expanded to 1TB with a microSD card, for which the phone has a dedicated slot.
The performance of the phone will not disappoint you. The phone even supports high graphics games like PUBG with decent graphics. You can play the game in HD graphics with a high frame rate, which is impressive for a phone in this price range. The frame rate may not be high on HD graphics, but you will not feel jitters during gaming. The game gets smoother when you change your setting to ‘balanced’.
There should not be any problem running lower graphics popular games like Freefire.
Battery life, connectivity and others
There is a 5,000mAH non-removable li-po battery on Realme Narzo 50. The phone can be charged with a 33W fast charger which is included in the box. The fast-charging system allows the phone to get fully charged from 0% in about 70 minutes. This power is enough to last for days under basic use. Realme claims a fully charged battery can provide 45.7 hours of phone calls and 100 hours of music.
Realme Narzo 50 supports two nano sim cards for network connectivity. The phone also supports dual-band Wifi for internet connectivity. The phone features Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless connectivity with other devices while it uses a USB Type-C 2.0 for charging and wired connectivity.
For audio, it has a speaker which is pretty loud and also a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio connectivity.

Verdict
Realme Narzo 50 can be one of the best choices if you are looking for a budget gaming phone. It handles most popular games played in Nepal such as PUBG and Freefire pretty well and offers a good battery backup as well. Moreover, it also has a decent camera performance that will not disappoint the user.
However, the design of the phone could have been better. The Kevlar speed texture does not seem appealing and rather looks boring. Some work on the design of the camera module could also have been done. But again, this is a gaming phone and there are very few smartphones on the market that offers the gaming specifications that Realme Narzo 50 is offering.
