Kathmandu, February 8

The government is preparing to rate foreign employment recruitment agencies based on their credibility.

The preparation takes place amid complaints galore that the recruitment agencies, popularly known as “manpower” in Nepal, cheat foreign employment aspirants in several steps.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security formed a task force led by Joint-secretary Rajeev Pokharel to finalise a standard operating procedure for the rating. The document will also define indicators of various categories.

The task force also includes representatives of the company operators.

Labour and Employment Minister Krishna Kumar Shrestha hopes the rating will help the government identify which companies are good and which are not.

There are nearly 900 foreign employment recruitment companies in Nepal.
