Ramechhap: Govt engineer arrested red-handed with Rs 2.8 million bribe

Kathmandu, October 19

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) says it has arrested a government engineer red-handed in possession of Rs 2.8 million bribe money in the Ramechhap district of Bagmati.

The arrestee has been identified as Nawaraj Satyal, an engineer deployed at the Water Supply and Sanitation Division Office in Ramechhap. Along with him, plumber Bakhat Bahadur Thapa has also been arrested at the official residence in Manthali municipality-1.

A CIAA team seized Rs 1.6 million in cash and Rs 1.2 million in a cheque from them, according to the commission.

Further investigation is underway.

Of late, many engineers working at government offices have been arrested on the charge of bribery.
