Kathmandu, December 29

Light but continuous rainfall in almost all parts of the country including the capital, Kathmandu, since Wednesday morning has affected the daily life of the public. In particular, the country’s transport systems–both land and air–have been severely hit by the weather change.

Officials in the Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces in far-western Nepal say snowfall in higher districts of the region has blocked roads.

Major roads in Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Bajura, Bajhang, Doti and Darchula in Sudurpaschim have been blocked by snow.

Likewise, life in Jajarkot, Dolpa and Rukum Paschim has been affected by the weather change in the Karnali province.

Major domestic airline providers say several domestic flights have been rescheduled and cancelled due to low visibility caused by rainfall and snowfall. Airports in all parts of the country except those in eastern Nepal have been affected.
