Kathmandu, January 19
Governor-designates of the seven provinces are to take their oath of office on Friday, the President’s Office has said,
This comes two days after the government recommended seven individuals to become ceremonial heads of the newly-formed provinces.
According to the constitution, the governors’ oath of office is administered by the President. The President’s Office says a formal ceremony is being organied at 4pm.
The government on Wednesday, appointed Govinda Subba (Province 1), Ratneshwar Lal Kayastha (Province 2), Anuradha Koirala (Province 3), Baburam Kunwar (Province 4), Uma Kanta Jha (Province 5), Durga Kishore Khanal (Province 6( and Mohan Raj Malla (Province 7) to the post of governor of their respective provinces.
