Kathmandu, September 27

The government has dissolved the Nepal Scouts national ad hoc committee appointed by the CPN-UML’s KP Sharma Oli-led government.

Preparations are underway to appoint a new committee headed by the people close to the ruling Nepali Congress party, informs a source close to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The Oli government had appointed Lok Bahadur Bhandari, an educational industrialist close to Oli, as the head of the Nepal Scouts around three years ago. But, he has been given a letter of his sacking on Sunday.

A meeting of the Ministry of Youth and Sports decided on Friday last week to dissolve the Bhandari-led committee claiming it could not implement the mandate, according to the ministry.

No election has taken place to elect the new leadership of the national scout organisation for the past 10 years and the governments have been hiring and firing officials as they please.
