“The government’s initiatives and investment for achieving quality education through reforms in the curriculum and pedagogy should be productive,” she said while addressing a function held to distribute the Nepal Bidya Bushan medals and Nepal Chhatra Bidya Padak medals at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas this morning. The programme was organised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to mark the 40th National Education Day and International Literacy Day.

Stating that socio-economic transformation, employment and technology, good conduct, and research-oriented education are the need of the day, the President expressed her hope that the ongoing reforms in policies would help enhance the quality of education in the country. “Coordination and collaboration between the federation, province and local levels will help consolidate the public education system,” Bhandari added.

Also speaking at the function, Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel said transformation in public education was a priority for the government and it was working to create an atmosphere where the graduates could work in the country itself.
