Kathmandu, September 8
Nepali Communist Party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has accused the government of withholding the investigation report into last year’s Gen Z movement.
Addressing a memorial gathering in Sindhupalchok, Prachanda said the truth about the events surrounding the movement had not been made public because officials in the government had kept the investigation report hidden.
“Responsible people in the government themselves have hidden the investigation report and have not allowed the truth of the incident to come out,” Prachanda said.
He said the intentions and demands of the young people who participated in the Gen Z movement should be understood separately from the destructive incidents that followed.
Prachanda also alleged that the movement had been infiltrated in an attempt to discredit the demands and objectives raised by the Gen Z generation.
“There needs to be an impartial investigation into the events of September 8,” he said. “Likewise, the truth about the destructive events of September 9 must be made public.”
He said it was necessary to establish who was involved in the arson, vandalism and other acts of destruction during the movement.
According to Prachanda, the facts and findings obtained through the investigation should be made public to establish responsibility for the incidents.
