Police trainer held on sexual abuse charge

Banke, October 17

Police in Banke district of southwestern Nepal on Thursday arrested their own staffer for his alleged involvement in sexually abusing a new staffer of the organisation.

Sub-inspector Bam Bahadur Rana was arrested after a woman filed a complaint that she was abused inside the Provincial Police Training Academy in Nepalgunj on Sunday.

SP Bir Bahadur Rai of the District Police Office says an investigation has begun after the alleged victim filed the complaint. The District Court has remanded the accused in custody for seven days.

Further investigation is underway.
