Police have identified the driver who died in the Tripureshwor bus fire.
According to SSP Dilip Ghimire of the Kathmandu Police Range, the driver who died in the bus fire was Arjun Dong Tamang of Sisneri, Indrasarowar Rural Municipality, Makwanpur.
SSP Ghimire said it has come to light that he was using a driving licence issued in the name of Dawa Lama in Monday’s incident in Tripureshwor.
According to SSP Ghimire, preliminary investigation has revealed facts suggesting that Arjun may have been involved in various incidents using a bank account and a citizenship certificate in the name of Dawa Lama.
According to police, he was involved in an incident in November 2025 in which a bus overturned in Balaju, injuring three people, and has been on the run since then. SSP Ghimire said he was found to have used a driving licence issued in the name of Sunil Tamang in that incident.
Arjun was also found to have used a driving licence issued in the name of Dawa Tamang in an incident of misbehaving with traffic police in the Mulpani area about three months ago.
Police said further investigation is underway into whether Arjun may have used identity documents and papers issued in other people’s names as well.
