Kathmandu, September 16
Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a courtesy meeting with US Acting Ambassador to Nepal Megan Boldin at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Shah expressed gratitude to the US government for its solidarity with and support for Nepal during the difficult situation caused by recent disasters.
Shah told Boldin that both Nepali and foreign nationals had been affected by the disasters. He also said Nepal was facing such incidents amid the growing impacts of climate change.
The prime minister stressed the need to strengthen global cooperation and collective efforts to reduce the risks posed by climate-related disasters and address their impacts.
The two also discussed Nepal’s tourism potential and opportunities for mutual benefit through the development of the tourism sector. Shah said Nepal would continue to welcome US investment, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
During the meeting, Acting Ambassador Boldin expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the floods in Rasuwa.
She extended condolences to the bereaved families and affected communities and said the US government stood in solidarity with the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people during the difficult time.
Boldin also said the US government was ready to provide necessary support and cooperation in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
